WVACS Cave

WVACS Cave is open for exploration and continued digging. The cave is currently a short, but comfortable crawlway with enough room to turn around at the end. However, there is believed to be additional cave passage both under the dirt floor and at the ends of the known cave. To explore the cave, lift the corrugated tin lid and tie it back to the tree. Carefully slide past the tarp and poles and climb down into the cave. The obvious crawlway at the base of the climbdown is the way on and goes several feet to a sharp right turn and continues another twenty or so feet to the end of the cave. When finished exploring the cave, be sure to carefully replace the lid as you found it. This lid has been placed here so that the entrance does not become unstable from exposure to the elements.

To dig in the cave, lift the corrugated tin lid, tie it back to the tree, and remove the tarp and poles. The poles are labeled as to their position according to the cardinal directions. Place them accordingly, then attach the tarp. Digging is encouraged anywhere in the cave away from the entrance (don't want to destabilize it). You can dig straight down to open the passage larger, or continue opening any or all of the apparent passages in the cave. Spoil dirt (what you dig out) should be carried out of the cave and placed in the pile along the fence line to the West in the obvious dirt pile.

Looking into going virgin cave. Dimensions of this slot are 1’ wide by about 8” high. Digging will open the passage which enlarges beyond the constriction to 1 to 2’ high by 3’ wide.
